Proposed construction of a 5 building apartment complex consisting of a total of 252 multi-family units and 4,865 sq. ft. of commercial space on the west side of West Catawba Avenue

We, the undersigned, are residents of Lake Norman Cove, a community of 171 townhomes.  We are opposed to the proposal and planned construction.  We are not against economic development and would welcome a plan to develop this propertyby constructing townhomes and/or single family homes similar to what Cambridge Square is constructing just up the road on West Catawba.

Our community is adjacent to Jetton Park and we have water access to Lake Norman.  We feel strongly that a plan of this size would do tremendous damage to the tranquility of our development by dramatically increasing traffic of both people and cars through our private roads and sidewalks.  

With the planned expansion of West Catawba postponed until at least 2025, we are concerned by the increasing level of traffic that this project would generate.  These proposed apartment buildings would be 5 floors in height and would also be the tallest buildings fronting on Catawba Avenue.

This proposed rezoning will change the character of our neighborhood, leading to more traffic congestion, renters versus homeowners, safety issues, noise, and lowered property values.

We are asking that you vote against this proposal and request the developer for a plan that would create home ownership rather than apartment rentals.
