There is still time to come to the Stafford Board of Supervisor meeting at 3:00 pm on September 6th of the to voice your support for the Fredericksburg area Inner Connector and Trail network. The Supervisors will be voting on a letter to send to FAMPO requesting a study for a river crossing West on I-95.

I will be speaking at the 3:00 pm meeting on Tuesday. There might be some speakers opposing a study. I'm asking for other supporters to speak and to email the Stafford Supervisors. Please tell them, I support a river crossing study that includes "The Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail network".

The butterfly picture is on the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course in Stafford County. It has turned into beautiful Nature Trails. The golf course should be acquired for the Road, and Trails Park to become a Regional Park. It's loaded with History including Multiple Prehistoric Camps, Colonial Activity associated with the Historic Hunters Iron Works, 19th century Farmsteads, Multiple Civil War Gun Emplacements, the Historic Civil War Mud March, a Union Balloon Corp Site, Civil War Camps, Huts, with a Natural Waterfall and Mill nearby.

The Golf Course has 7 miles of paved Trails, a Clubhouse, Parking, a Lake, and Maintenance shop are already in place. The Purchase of the land would create and Instant Park that is Central to Stafford and Fredericksburg. A Real Central Park, but this Central Park would be twice the acreage when combined with Conservation Land.

The Golf Course is Contiguous to over 1,000 acres of Fredericksburg Conservation Land that runs for over 10 miles on the Stafford side of the Rappahannock River. That Public land has a Beautiful Waterfall and is loaded with many more historic sites, but has no public access in Stafford County. The only practical way to gain Public access to the 1,000 of Fredericksburg Public land is to secure the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course for Public Use. There is already 7 miles of paved Golf Course trails in Place and 10 miles of 18th and 19th century Road beds that can be made into trails.

The Stafford Comprehensive Plan proposes a Historic Waterfall Trail from the Golf Course to run along the River to Belmont, which could connect to the 10+ miles of the Fredricksburg Trail System on the other Side of the Rappahannock River.
