VICTORY UPDATE!!!
The Board voted 4 to 3 to support a letter for more research on a Rappahannock river crossing West of I-95. Supervisors English, Vanuch, Bomke and Gary voted in support of the letter. I believe the favored crossing area is at Celebrate Virginia Pkwy.
Last year I attended a stakeholders meeting at the beginning of a study to relieve traffic on the East to West Roads. I told them at the meeting if they want to relieve traffic on the East to West Roads build a new North to South Road with a river crossing.
One supervisor that is opposed to a river crossing said the East to West Road study had draft data that shows a river crossing at Celebrate Virginia would relieve the traffic on the East to West Roads of Route 17 and Route 3.
I have to get my hands on the draft of that new East to West Roads study.
Please email the Supervisors and thank the four of them for their support.
I want to thank all of you for your support!!! This is the first step in a long process. We have to keep pushing to get it approved.
The Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail Network is a proposed 15 mile Regional parallel Road with a Trail West of I-95.
The covered Bridge is located perfectly to be used for the main Greenway trail, to cross Falls Run. It's located on Berea Church Road. It would need minor restoring. The brush and vines needs to be removed and could be a great Eagle Scout project.
The 1/3 of an acre lot it sits on was part of a larger parcel that was subdivided. The lot is non-buildable for house construction, because it's Resource Protection Area (RPA). The lot is large enough for a large gazebo and picnic tables (Maybe another Eagle Scout Project).
The adoption of the Chesapeake Bay Act in the 90's prevents future covered bridges from being built, so this bridge is rare and unique. It was built by Stafford Native Ricky Carpenter in the 80's who died with his son in a car accident. Preserving the bridge for public use would be a tribute to them.
Sincerely ,
Joe Brito
