SI PODEMOS LLEGAR, PERO AHORA NO PODEMOS ESTAR. WE CAN GET, BUT WE CAN'T STAY

Queremos dar las gracias al Ayuntamiento de Calvià por haber rectificado e instalado una pasarela de madera  con la tela plástica azul. Gracias a esta mejora, personas con movilidad reducida como mi padre, ya pueden llegar hasta la orilla del mar. Es un paso muy importante y lo valoramos de corazón.

Hay que seguir insistiendo con el resto de pasarelas, ya que la playa de Santa Ponsa es muy grande y cuenta con varios accesos, sobretodo pasarelas que lleguen hacia los baños adaptados.

El Ayuntamiento también ha instalado una placa informativa para el recién ampliado espacio de sombra para personas de movilidad reducida: ha añadido dos tablas de pasarela y dos sombrillas más. 

Sin embargo, seguimos teniendo un problema importante con el tema del área de sombra para personas con movilidad reducida. La pérgola anterior abarcaba muchísima más sombra y protegía del sol durante horas. Con las sombrillas actuales la sombra es pequeña y circular, y solo cubre el espacio que proyecta  aproximadamente un par de horas de sol. Al desplazarse la sombra sobre la arena, una persona sin problemas de movilidad puede ir moviendo la hamaca por la arena buscando la sombra; pero una persona con problemas de movilidad reducida, ya tendría que estar fuera del área persiguiéndo la sombra  por la arena, para protegerse del sol.

Recordamos que la playa de Santa Ponça está clasificada por el Ayuntamiento de Calvià como una playa completamente adaptada para personas con movilidad reducida y este año se le ha vuelto a otorgar la bandera Q de calidad. En su protocolo de accesibilidad se incluyen zonas de sombra adaptadas con pérgolas reservadas para proteger del sol a los usuarios con movilidad reducida mientras descansan.                         

Por eso, volvemos a pedir que se revise la solución de sombra actual. 

Creemos que se puede hacer más, como la propia regidora nos indicó, y confiamos en que se vuelva a instalar una pérgola para ampliar la zona de sombra para cumplir con los estándares de la bandera Q y con el derecho de todas las personas a disfrutar de la playa en igualdad de condiciones.

We would like to thank the Calvià Town Council for responding to our concerns and installing a wooden walkway with the blue accessibility mat. Thanks to this improvement, people with reduced mobility, like my father, can now reach the shoreline. This is a very important step forward, and we truly appreciate it.

However, we must continue insisting on improving the remaining walkways, as Santa Ponsa Beach is very large and has several access points, especially walkways leading to the adapted accessible toilets.

The Town Council has also installed an information sign for the recently expanded shaded area for people with reduced mobility. In addition, they have added two extra walkway sections and two more beach umbrellas.

However, we still face a significant issue regarding the shaded area for people with reduced mobility. The previous pergola provided a much larger area of shade and protected users from the sun for several hours. The current umbrellas, on the other hand, create only a small circular patch of shade that covers the area for approximately two hours as the sun moves across the sky. While someone without mobility issues can simply move their sunbed across the sand to stay in the shade, a person with reduced mobility would have to leave the designated accessible area and continually chase the moving shade across the beach in order to remain protected from the sun.

We would like to remind everyone that Santa Ponsa Beach is classified by the Calvià Town Council as a fully accessible beach for people with reduced mobility, and this year it has once again been awarded the Q for Quality certification. Its accessibility protocol includes adapted shaded areas with reserved pergolas to protect users with reduced mobility from the sun while they rest.

For this reason, we once again ask the Town Council to review the current shading solution.

We believe more can be done, as the Councillor herself indicated, and we trust that a pergola will be reinstated to expand the shaded area, ensuring compliance with the standards required by the Q for Quality certification and upholding everyone's right to enjoy the beach on equal terms.
