DECEPCION CON LA NUEVA ZONA ACCESIBLE DE LA PLAYA GRANDE DE SANTA PONSA

Ayer tarde, manifestamos nuestra decepción por la manera en que se ha ejecutado la nueva zona de acceso al mar para personas con movilidad reducida a la regidora de Playas y Litoral del Ayto. de Calvià, explicando los siguientes inconvenientes:
Se ha instalado una pasarela que acaba muchos metros lejos del agua, dejando sin cubrir el tramo más difícil: la arena blanda hasta la orilla. Aparte, la pasarela hace un recorrido con desvíos innecesarios; en línea recta se habría aprovechado mejor la madera disponible y se habría podido llegar mucho más cerca del mar.
Tampoco han habilitado la tela azul que facilitaba el acceso al baño y no se ha sustituido por ninguna otra alternativa.
Nos han informado que las estructuras de madera de la antigua pérgola situadas en la playa están rotas. No pueden usarse. A cambio, el ayuntamiento de Calvià ha habilitado un espacio mucho más pequeño que el anterior con cuatro sombrillas que no permite acomodar adecuadamente la silla anfibia ni otros elementos de apoyo ya que quitan espacio a los usuarios. Las sombrillas están mal orientadas y proporcionan poca sombra útil. No hay ninguna señalización que indique si este espacio está reservado a personas con movilidad reducida por lo que cualquier persona puede usarlo.
La accesibilidad no consiste solo en instalar unos metros de pasarela y cuatro sombrillas. Hay que eliminar barreras reales y garantizar que las personas con movilidad reducida puedan disfrutar de la playa en igualdad de condiciones.
Esperamos que esta actuación se revise y se corrijan las deficiencias detectadas.
Seguiremos luchando por una playa accesible para Salvador, nuestro padre, y para todas las demás personas con movilidad reducida.

Yesterday afternoon we expressed our disappointment about how the new sea access area for people with reduced mobility has been carried out to the Councillor for Beaches and Coastline of Calvià Town Hall, explaining the following issues:
A walkway has been installed that ends many meters away from the water, leaving the most difficult stretch uncovered: the soft sand down to the shoreline. In addition, the walkway follows a route with unnecessary detours; in a straight line the available wood would have been used better and it would have been possible to get much closer to the sea.
They have also not installed the blue matting that facilitated access to the water, nor have they replaced it with any other alternative.
We have been informed that the wooden structures of the old pergola on the beach are broken. They cannot be used. Instead, Calvià Town Hall has set up a space much smaller than the previous one with four parasols that does not allow the amphibious wheelchair or other support equipment to be accommodated properly, as they take up space from users. The parasols are poorly positioned and provide very little useful shade. There is no signage indicating whether this space is reserved for people with reduced mobility, so anyone can use it.
Accessibility is not just about installing a few meters of walkway and four parasols. Real barriers must be removed and it must be guaranteed that people with reduced mobility can enjoy the beach on equal terms.
We hope that this action will be reviewed and the deficiencies detected will be corrected.
We will continue fighting for an accessible beach for Salvador, our father, and for all other people with reduced mobility.
