Egremont Town Council could be in a bit of a pickle, after previously announcing adult comedian, Roy Chubby Brown, would star at Egremont Market Hall, on 21st October.

Yesterday evening in a split vote, the Council decided to block the appearance of the 71-year-old comedian. From comments passed during deliberations, it would appear that some of the councillors have a prudish attitude to adult comedy, with one Councillor claiming “it wasn’t appropriate.”

Egremont Market Hall has seen a variety of acts down the years. From famous singers, to comedians and local theatre groups putting on entertaining shows. The decision from councillors is perplexing.

The £22 tickets will now be refunded to those that bought them, through Event Bright. But, the payout from Egremont Town Council could be much more, if a contract was exchanged with the promoter, Steve Lloyd.
