Rogers Communications should offer financial relief to their customers.
The Issue
Prior to the financial crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic Rogers Communications offered cheaper plans and promotions for their internet home services. Their new promotions see a $6.49 increase for the minimum tier of home internet.
They offer no discounts, no payment deferment, or any sort of financial relief to their customers during this financial crisis. Instead they have done careful PR work and enacted service level changes that minimize their loss of profit, like eliminating overage charges or giving free previews to television channels. There is no change to their policies around shutting down customer services or late fees incurred for non payment. If a customer wants to pause their service due to financial hardship or any other reason, they will shut down and pause the service for the price of $30 a month.
We request that Rogers Communications (Net income: $1.821 billion - 2017) and the Rogers family (Net worth: $11.57 billion) to show some empathy, business ethics and loyalty to their customer base and offer significant discounts to their customers during this crisis. We also ask that they pledge not to shut down internet or communication services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
