An emerging issue to be presented to the Philippines is access inequality to quality education. The majority of students in rural and deprived areas do not have adequate support, facilities, and qualified teaching staff. Due to this trend, poverty continues, opportunities are limited, and national progress is slowed. We therefore petition for a comprehensive overhaul to ensure that every Filipino enjoys access to quality education.

COVID-19 has revealed the weaknesses of the education system in the year 2020. Online learning proved that every student has not been given equal access to the internet, computer, or digital literacy. Other more vulnerable students were left behind and further dip into existing inequalities. The government must improve these weaknesses in the systems with investments on infrastructure development and technology integration, teacher training and capacity building, and an inclusive curriculum and accessible learning materials.

Now is the time for change. Every Filipino deserves an equal footing in succeeding through acquiring adequate knowledge and skills. Let us continue to push forward through the pursuit of such educational change which we call for through inclusive, equitable, and excellent education. We should empower future generations to drive progress and prosperity.
