I am a proud member of a culture that is often misunderstood and disrespected. The term 'gypsy' is commonly used in casual conversation, media, and literature without understanding its derogatory implications. This word has been used to marginalize and stereotype my people for centuries.

The term 'gypsy' originated as a racial slur against Romani people in Europe during the 16th century. It was based on a false belief that we originated from Egypt, hence the term ‘gyptian’ which later became ‘gypsy’. Today, many people are unaware of its offensive nature and use it innocently or ignorantly. However, this does not diminish its harmful impact on our community. We need your help to educate others about this issue.
