Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of the United States, was a virulent racist during his time in office. His sort of racist thinking is inappropriate to be represented in a school with such diversity. Wilson has praised the Ku Klux Klan and called them "a veritable empire of the South, to protect the Southern Country." Also, during Wilson's time as the President of Princeton University, he had barred African-American Students from the Ivy League school. Woodrow Wilson has a history of racist remarks and does not deserve a school to be named after him in a diverse town like Edison, New Jersey. 

Us, the students in Edison, New Jersey, ask the Board of Education to look into changing the name of Woodrow Wilson Middle School. We look to honor someone who has promoted diversity, made changes to better the country, and brought attention to racial issues in our nation. If an Ivy League College can make a stand against racism and believe that Woodrow Wilson racist opinions and policies make him inappropriate namesake for a school, we should make that stand as well.
