Edens Landing Residents say NO to dangerous Childcare Development

Edens Landing Residents say NO to dangerous Childcare Development
The issue
This proposed development is over 2 house blocks on one of the busiest intersections in Edens Landing. The intersection of Castile Crescent & Avonmore Street is in a school zone.
This intersection is Dangerous. If this is allowed to proceed the residents and school children that use this intersection are all at risk of serious injury, a fatality is quite possible with three children already seriously injured in this area.
The residents of Edens Landing were not consulted with about this preposterous decision. The sneaky developer knows the loop holes in the council zoning and that they can get a development approved without the extra scrutiny that should apply to a development like this.
10+ Reasons why we should say no to this development!
- The majority of Edens Landing is zoned residential low density housing, we don't want or need any noisy commercial businesses moving in, we already have two childcare centres, 4 after school care providers and several family day care houses in Edens Landing.
- Edens Landing has been established for 30 years, it is built out! There are no new developments in Edens Landing, the population growth does not warrant another childcare centre.
- This intersection has thousands of cars and hundreds of pedestrians that use it each day, this centre will add 200+ cars to an already dangerous road. The reports submitted to support the application are full of errors and incorrect data.
- 200+ additional vehicle trips per day will cause more delays, and lead to heavy congestion on both Castile Crescent and Avonmore Street. It will make it more difficult for residents to get out of their driveways and side streets, buses and emergency vehicle will be impacted.
- Council will have to make the whole area No Standing, this will reduce the parking for school families so children will have to walk further Edens Landing families will be impacted by this!
- Months/years of demolition and building, will mean major disruption to the road network, extremely noisy earthmoving equipment, loud power tools, large trucks and dust and dirt everywhere.
- The noise, the hours of operation will be from 6:30am - 6:30pm, no one nearby will have any peace. 100+ kids all playing outside is a nightmare for shift workers and the elderly. The noise assessments completed are not a true reflection of what residents are already exposed to.
- Privacy, a two story commercial building of this size built very closely & over looking established homes will unfairly impact on residents right to privacy and mental wellbeing.
- We have a housing shortage, people are homeless and living in cars, No homes should be demolished.
- The community did not get a fair chance to have their say and make official objections. Why does a developer have more rights than residents that have lived in the area for 25+ years.
