🚨 Decision Day for the Gravel Pit Solar Expansion – Thursday, March 5th at 1 PM
Tomorrow the Connecticut Siting Council will vote on the proposed Gravel Pit Solar Expansion in East Windsor.
This decision will determine whether hundreds of additional acres of prime Connecticut River Valley farmland will be permanently converted to industrial solar development.
Over the past months, our community has spoken loudly:
• Over 2,206 petition signers opposing the expansion
• 157+ written public comments submitted to the Siting Council
• Opposition from the East Windsor Board of Selectmen, State Senator Saud Anwar, and State Representatives Jaime Foster and Carol Hall
Despite these concerns, the project remains on tomorrow’s agenda for a final decision.

📌 Gravel Pit Solar Expansion is Agenda Item #2 and will be heard first.
We have requested a moratorium on additional large-scale solar development in East Windsor, but as of now we have not received a response from the Office of Governor Ned Lamont.
State Representative Jaime Foster informed us that legislation is currently being negotiated regarding:
• Solar fire and emergency safety regulations (HB 5457)
• Limits on the Connecticut Siting Council’s authority
However, those legislative efforts may come too late to impact tomorrow’s vote.
Regardless of the outcome, this community has shown what civic engagement looks like. Your voices, signatures, and testimony are now part of the official record.
Please consider joining the meeting tomorrow to hear the decision directly from the Council.
Thank you for standing up for East Windsor’s farmland, environment, and future.
