Today (October 8) is the last day to sign up to speak during tomorrow’s Public Comment Session for Docket 492A – Gravel Pit Solar Expansion. The session begins at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.
If you think this land will be prime farmland again when they’re done, you’ve fallen for their sales pitch. Here’s what the developers themselves admitted in their interrogatory responses to the CT Siting Council:
“At the time of this response, it is anticipated that all site features down to three feet below grade will be removed at time of decommissioning.”
That means the steel poles driven 15 feet into the ground will be cut and left buried. Any concrete pads deeper than 3 feet will also remain underground. This is what our community will be left with — not restored farmland, but land scarred and compacted beyond repair.
This is our one chance to tell the Connecticut Siting Council we will not accept more destruction of our town’s farmland, forests, and community character. Every voice matters.

🗣️ Planning to Speak Tomorrow?
You’ll have 3 minutes to make your statement.
Here’s how to make it count:
✅ Structure Your Time
Intro (30 sec): Name, town, and why this matters to you
Core Message (2 min): Focus on 1–2 key concerns — loss of farmland, flooding risk, wildlife harm, community impact
Closing (30 sec): End with a clear ask: “Please reject this proposal,” or “We need responsible siting, not fragmentation.”
✅ Make It Memorable
Speak from your own experience — what’s at stake for your home, your land, your neighborhood
Use plain language and vivid examples: “Once prime farm land and forests are gone, they’re gone forever.”
Keep it focused — one strong point sticks better than many
✅ Delivery Tips
Practice aloud (aim for ~2:45 to allow for nerves)
Speak slowly and clearly
Be calm, confident, and conversational
💡 Reminder: We’re not anti-solar — we’re pro-sensible siting.

If you can’t attend, you can still submit written comments:

We had 54 residents submit letters for the Motion to Reopen — let’s double that participation tomorrow night. The developers are nervous. Let’s show up, speak out, and make it clear: East Windsor deserves better.
