🚨 The Truth About Gravel Pit Solar’s Flyer Dear Neighbors, You may have received a flyer from Gravel Pit Solar (GPS) promising “immediate benefits” for East Windsor. The problem? Many of their claims are misleading or false. Here’s what they say vs. the reality: ⸻ ⚡ Claim: “Lower electric bills for residents and businesses.” ✅ Truth: GPS sells power into the regional grid, not directly to us. Our bills will not go down. ⸻ 👷 Claim: “150 good-paying local construction jobs.” ✅ Truth: These are short-term jobs. No guarantee they’ll go to East Windsor residents. When construction ends, so do the jobs. ⸻ 💰 Claim: “Increased tax revenue for schools, roads, emergency services.” ✅ Truth: Solar developers often demand tax breaks (PILOT agreements) that cap or slash what they pay towns. The real money for East Windsor is far less than advertised. ⸻ 🌳 Claim: “70 acres of new public green space and trail funding.” ✅ Truth: Their “green space” is fenced-off solar land. It is not real farmland preservation or true public recreation space. ⸻ 🌎 Claim: “Improved soil quality and zero pollution.” ✅ Truth: Covering farmland with industrial panels means lost farmland, clear-cut forests, runoff, heat islands, and fire risk. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. ⸻ 🚩 The Big Picture • East Windsor is already overloaded with solar projects compared to neighboring towns. • This expansion benefits outside investors, not residents. • Our community risks losing farmland, heritage, and safety for empty promises. ⸻ ✊ What You Can Do 1. Share the petition – The more voices, the stronger we stand. 2. Stay informed – Don’t be misled by glossy flyers. 3. Speak up at hearings – The Siting Council needs to hear our truth. Together, we can protect East Windsor. 💪 👉 https://www.change.org/SaveEastWindsorFromSolarTakeover
