This afternoon, smoke and flames were visible again at the Gravel Pit Solar installation on Plantation Road in East Windsor.
We must stop this expansion!
🔍 Please help us shape the Interrogatories for Docket 492A – Gravel Pit Solar
We need your help drafting interrogatory questions for the reopened Gravel Pit Solar proceeding (Docket 492A) before the Connecticut Siting Council this Fall 2025.
🧾 What are interrogatories?
Interrogatories are formal written questions submitted during the public hearing process. In this case, they’re used to request specific facts, clarifications, or documentation from the petitioner (Gravel Pit Solar). These questions will help us show the environmental impact that Gravel Pit Solar has had on our community. Questions can be asked about the original project and its impact or they can be directed towards the expansion. Keep in mind the council will be making their decision on all of Gravel Pit Solar.

Please help us by sharing questions that we can use.
✅ What questions do you believe should be asked? Think about those questions that clarify environmental impact, land use, public safety, rural character of our community, natural diversity and overal impact to those living nearby.
✅ What Factual articles, reports, or documents do you have that support or challenge claims made in the expansion narrative or technical exhibits?
Whether it’s a question about stormwater management, visibility, vernal pools, or emergency planning your contributions help us build a stronger, evidence-based case.
🧠 Sample Interrogatory Questions
• Visibility & Impact:
“Please provide updated cumulative visibility maps that reflect seasonal foliage and the proposed expansion footprint. What mitigation measures are planned for residential sightlines?”
• Stormwater & Drainage:
“Has the petitioner conducted post-construction stormwater modeling for the expanded array? Please provide documentation of runoff volume and flow direction changes.”
• Wildlife & Vernal Pools:
“What conservation measures are proposed for vernal pools identified in Exhibit B? Has CT DEEP reviewed the updated habitat impact assessment?”
• Emergency Planning:
“Please detail coordination efforts with East Windsor emergency services regarding fire response, evacuation routes, and access roads for the expanded site.”
• Agricultural Soil Preservation:
“What percentage of prime farmland soils will be permanently removed from agricultural use under the revised site plan? Please provide soil maps and impact analysis.”
Feel free to comment on the East Windsor Citizens for Responsible Solar Facebook page. Let’s make sure the record reflects the full scope of community concerns.
