Save Petsmart of East Harlem

The Issue

After years of being an "anchor" of East River Plaza, PetSmart will be closing its doors on April 4th. Unfortunately, the store is unable to reach an agreement with the landlord regarding the lease and repairs that need to be done.

PetSmart has become a fixture in our neighborhood, not only for the convenience of pet supplies, but also for Banfield's veterinary services and its daycare and pet hotel. Any animal lover and pet parent understand how important it is to have a trustworthy place to bring your fur babies. PetSmart of East Harlem is above par; the affection and attention shown by staff members to pets is incredible.

My 6-year-old husky, Kailani has been going to daycare every day since she was a puppy. PetSmart is her second home, with extended family members that know how much she likes her belly and neck rubs. Other pet parents know their dogs are socializing and exercising while they are at work instead of stuck in a NYC apartment.

It would be a great misfortune to lose this store, only to be replaced by another tenant. Please consider signing this petition to draw attention and urge both landlord and tenant to reconvene and come to an agreement.

Thank you on behalf of all pet parents.
