A planning application has been made to replace the existing 11m telecom mast and cabinets on Clarkston Road, near the entrance to Linn Park, with a new 20m (65') mast, with cabinets, on the opposite side of the road. This would be an immensely tall mast in an extremely prominent and visible position, especially to anyone coming out of Linn Park, or turning out of either Netherlee Road or Linnpark Avenue. It will also dwarf the house next to it, and tower over the garden of the former Kirk House. It will also dominate the view from the rear of houses on the east side of Ormonde Avenue, at the upper end. The current installation is largely screened by adjacent trees. The new mast would be an unwelcome addition to the skyline, especially opposite such an attractive and popular place as Linn Park. Together with the equipment cabinets, the installation will add an unwelcome industrial look to this neighbourhood. Only houses within 20m of the site have received notifications about the application, no notices have been placed at the site, outside the park, or at nearby shops. It would appear the developers (or the council) did not want you to know about this, until it was too late!
