🐾 East Elmhurst Dog Run Initiative – Next Steps! 🐾

Thank you again for your continued support of our effort to bring a dog run to the East Elmhurst community.

I recently received additional guidance from Peter Wu, Project Development Coordinator with the New York City Parks Department, outlining several important steps that will help strengthen our proposal as we prepare to present it to Community Board 3.

While we will continue collecting petition signatures, there are two additional ways you can help move this initiative forward:

🐶 Become a Founding Member

The Parks Department shared that the most successful dog runs are supported by a dedicated group of community members who help promote responsible pet ownership, educate park users about the rules, encourage everyone to clean up after their dogs, and help keep the dog run clean and welcoming.

I’m looking for 7 to 10 Founding Members who are willing to be part of this community effort. Becoming a Founding Member does not mean you’ll be doing all the work—it means you’ll be helping demonstrate that East Elmhurst has committed residents who are willing to support and care for a future dog run.

📍 Help Us Identify Potential Locations

We’re also looking for ideas for underutilized spaces within the East Elmhurst neighborhood that may be suitable for a future dog run.

If you know of a location, please take a few photos and send them to me, along with the address or nearest cross streets. Every suggestion will help us build a stronger proposal for Community Board 3.
