Upgrade of Westerton Play Park, East Dunbartonshire

The Issue

Please sign this petition to support our plea for an upgrade to Westerton playpark.

Westerton play park in East Dunbartonshire is a much loved and popular open space for the children of the Westerton community and their families. However, we need your help because the equipment and play area is in a poor state of repair.

There are many broken play structures that have been removed and not replaced. Examples of this as below:

  • Seesaw - there are two in the park one of which is broken. The other presents a risk in the following ways 1. it is too high for children to climb upon. 2. it is the perfect height for small children to bang their heads on when running around due to the height but also dull colour.
  • The round-a-bout is very old and small with no alternative roundabout for use. It is also not accessible to wheelchair users.
  • The climbing frame is accessible for children age 7 and up, but there is no climbing frame suitable for age 3-7. The slide on the big frame is a good size for young children, but they can’t access it as they are too small.

The park really needs new equipment, and consultation with local parents and children of the local school before installation.

Many playparks in East Dunbartonshire have received excellent upgrades in recent years. Westerton playpark is very much the heart of the community and an upgrade is long overdue.

Please take the time to sign this petition to support our request for the improvement of the playpark, for the children of Westerton.
Thank you
