No More Uniform Policy!

No More Uniform Policy!
With the constant changes to the economy, the cost of gas and food prices rising, and parents still out of work due to covid, things have gotten tough for families all over the world. When we have to supply two entirely different wardrobes for our children, one for school and one for when they are not in school, it starts to become extremely challenging. Additionally, this could be why sports and extracurricular activity participation has decreased as well. Those things cost money, as does the uniforms and equipment that we need to purchase for them. Aside from the additional cost that the uniforms result in, there are other reasons to abolish the uniform policy, as well. There are much bigger issues within the district that need attention like the fighting, the bullying, and the mental health of our students after the past two years that our kids have faced. Putting time and attention into making sure someone’s shirt has a collar and their pants are not jeans or leggings, seems frivolous in comparison to the many other issues that we, as a community, need to face head on at this time. Let’s abolish the uniform policy, get a regular dress code in place with some appropriate restrictions, and start working together as a district and as a community to start healing and getting some form of normalcy back for our kids!
