Stand with Charles Longshore: Help Reduce his 35.8 year Sentence

Stand with Charles Longshore: Help Reduce his 35.8 year Sentence
The Issue
Charles S. Longshore is an extraordinary person who exemplifies real change.
On May 28, 2012 the worst decision of a youthful offender was made that resulted in two lives being lost. Charles Longshore was charged with two counts of murder, stemming from drugs and drug debts owed and was sentenced to 35.8 years in prison. Charles has taken responsibility and gave the families closer.
Today, Charles is far from the person he was over a decade ago and has transformed his life and now serves the greater good. Further, he has Kept his promise to the victims family, the judge and prosecutor. That he would become all he can be.
Charles has completed many programs dedicated towards his rehabilitation and transformation.
For example Charles has completed the following:
1. Paralegal Studies degree,
2. Accounting,
3. Business,
4. Domestic violence,
5. Substance abuse,
6. Anger Management,
7. Personal Responsibility,
8. Marijuana Awareness,
9. Contentious Relationships,
10. Cognitive Awareness,
11. Theft/Shop lifting,
12. Parenting,
13. Redemption,
14. Getting it Right,
15. Achieving your potential,
16. (3) Degree's in waste water treatment from California State University,
17. Offender change program,
18. Offender Corrections,
To include many more achievements!! (Most of which he payed for on his own).
Charles Longshore is also the Co-Director of The SwagherLoveFoundation.org Reentry Department. Where he provides services and mentorship to current and former inmates as a way to reduce recidivism and deter crime. He provides housing, employment, transportation and resources to people upon their release. (From in prison).
Today, Charles is a great father, great partner, great uncle, spiritual leader in Native American Ceremonies and a good role model. He's always helping others. Donating Native American Craft work to charities and doing what he can where he can. His accomplishments while in prison and record of rehabilitation support the need for a reeavaluation and reduction of his prison sentence. No one ever imagined Charles would transform into who he is now.
Charles is not only recoverd from his addiction. He now mentors and sponsors others who still struggle with addiction.
Many options exist for him to obtain a reduction:
Senate Bill 6164. This option allows the prosecutor to petition the court after some time has passed or resentencing. If the current sentence no longer advances the interest of justice. This is purely the prosecutors discretion. So he needs your support.
Clemency. The Washington State Clemency board could reccommend to the Governor Jay Inslee to commute his sentence. This is purely a matter of grace which he will need your support.
Your signatures will be used to show the court, the prosecutor, the Governor, the Legislature and Washington State Clemency and pardons board that Charles Longshore's transformation is real and his need for reevaluation and reduction of his sentence is well supported not only by his record, but the people.
Charles is a changed person who is worthy of your support. His youth played a big part in his early life's decisions. He makes no excuse for his actions and took full responsibility for them.
Recent Scientific advances discovered how persons below age 25 suffer from underdeveloped brains. That cause them to be more susceptible to peer pressure, prone to violence, impulsive, less culpable for their crimes, and most importantly have a greater prospect for reform. Information, that was not available at the time of Charles's crime.
He has accepted full responsibility and corrected the error of his ways. He lives everyday a life of amends and remorse. We need all your support for Charles. He's changed and touched many peoples lives. Trying to give back and make up for what he's done.
Why is the petition important? There comes a time when a person has done all that the system has to offer. When that day comes and rehabilitation has been accomplished. We as a society meed to think about that. In that situation, punishment has worked and justice has been served. While at first we never know what that person will do or if they will learn from their mistakes in prison. But if they do, and truly transform. Shouldn't we provide a second chance? After they have proved themselves to have changed and are now rehabilitated.
This petition is not seeking the immediate release of Charles Longshore. Rather only a reduction of his current sentence. To allow him a meaningful chance upon his release. His transformation, record of rehabiltation, and extraordinary service work he does while in prison should count for something. That's why we need your support. So please stand with us and help Charles Receive a reduction of his prison sentence.
Thank you all for your support.
