E16 Royal Albert Wharf Parking: WE NEED A SOLUTION that isn't extortion please!
The Issue
I, like many of my fellow residents and their visitors at Royal Albert Wharf, have been issued several parking tickets due to the serious lack of clear signage and parking facilities in our residential development. This issue is not just an inconvenience; it is a financial burden and a daily stressor that affects our quality of life.
Royal Albert Wharf is a bustling residential area with hundreds of households. Yet, the current infrastructure fails to meet the needs of its residents. The lack of adequate parking facilities forces us to park in areas where we are not supposed to, leading to numerous parking tickets and fines.
Private developers should be required by law to provide sufficient parking spaces for their developments or alternatively, local councils should ensure there's enough public transport available as compensation. Currently there is no way to reach North London without entering Zone 1 on public transport. In London alone, 56% of households own at least one car (source: Department for Transport), highlighting the need for adequate parking spaces in residential areas.
We urge the local council and private developers involved in projects like ours at Royal Albert Wharf to take immediate action on this matter. We need either more accessible and affordable parking options or efficient public transport alternatives that can accommodate all residents' needs. There must be a reasonable solution for a resident to have an overnight visitor. This is currently not possible unless your visitor arrives via public transport.
Please sign this petition if you believe that every resident has a right to accessible transportation options without facing unnecessary financial burdens and that every resident has a right to have a visitor who arrives in a car and may be visiting for +4 hours.
