Could you imagine having to keep a positive balance at your local pizza store just in case you wanted to get a pizza that month?

This is exactly what E-Z Pass does and it seriously needs to change!

Why on earth do we need to keep our hard-earned money in an E-Z Pass non-interest bearing account?  Is it so E-Z Pass can put all our money in their account and make interest off of it and not pass any of the profits to us?

And then, if my balance ever goes negative, they go nuts and charge excessive fees for me just to keep my account!

I mentioned this unfair practice to an E-Z Pass Supervisor once and the answer I was given was absurd.  She claimed E-Z Pass cannot bill in real-time since the volume is too high!  I literally laughed out loud as I know E-Z Pass transaction volume can't come close to Apple iTunes or Amazon.  I work with a tax technology company and I believe that statement to be 100% inaccurate.

I personally have a great credit score and I should not be forced to put my money in a non-interest bearing account just in case I want to use their E-Z Pass services.  But, since this is a monopoly of sorts, I have no other choice if I want to use this time-saving feature of our transportation system.

E-Z Pass - PLEASE update your billing system to 2022!  Its not 1990 anymore....
