Old English, while dead, is not without its uses. It can be a useful gateway to learning the grossly underappreciated history of Britain. There are so many beautiful Old English poems such as Beowulf that more people deserve to have the experience of reading. Most importantly, though, many originally Old English words can be found in Modern English, increasing one's understanding of the language. These benefits can all be made public by adding an Old English course to Duolingo, as there are currently not many good ways to learn Old English.
