Dundonald Park Renewal Project

Dundonald Park Renewal Project
The Issue
As concerned Centretown residents, we have joined forces to improve the usability, safety, and heritage character of Dundonald Park. As one of the few green and public spaces in the heart of our city, it plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and vibrancy of our community. Unfortunately, due to the lack of investment and leadership, the Park has fallen into a state of disrepair.
We, wholeheartedly advocate for the City of Ottawa and Ariel Troster to increase funding for planned upgrades at Dundonald Park. We believe that these upgrades will greatly benefit the community and enhance the overall well-being of the residents who utilize this public space.
However, we urge the City and Ariel Troster to take a comprehensive approach to investments, by first developing a holistic plan which also includes programming and safety. By doing so, the Park can become a model of sustainability and accessibility for other public spaces in the city, providing residents with a safe and welcoming place to connect with nature and each other.
We ask that the $500,000 currently allocated to a Splash Pad be redirected to fund a comprehensive strategy and augmented to fund a broader infrastructure plan. In the absence of such a plan, we believe that investing in one piece of significant infrastructure could be detrimental and could change the character and use of the Park for other activities.
We strongly believe that investing in the upgrades and the holistic approach will not only improve the quality of life of the local community, but will also create a positive ripple effect throughout the entire city. We call upon the City of Ottawa and Ariel Troster to prioritize the funding of this project and make the necessary investments to bring it to fruition.
Together, we can make Dundonald Park a shining example of the power of community, sustainability, and accessibility in creating a brighter future for all.
