Duke University is making changes to their housing policies in stark contrast with the will of its undergraduate population. Selective living groups offer students the opportunity to surround themselves with a supportive community and develop strong relationships. Students should be free to choose their residential communities rather than be forced to live with a group for two years by random chance. Where is the benefit to students in changing the status quo? Or is this simply another chance for Duke to attack selective living groups and Greek organizations that are more "distinctly Duke" than the proposed system...
