Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who signed and shared the petition to build a footpath and cycle lane on the Causeway road. With supporters approaching 1,000 it's clear there is real support for this. 

Last Friday I shared the petition with Dublin City Council, this morning the Parks dept contacted me to provide an update. They explained that they had to start work quickly as the reopening of the golf club necessitated the reopening of the Causeway road and they had to ensure space for social distancing.

Work is still ongoing and DCC have assured me that when completed a 7m wide protected shared space for walking, disable access and cycling will have been created. 

This is a definite step in the right direction and I hope the works when complete will allow kids on bikes and scooters, buggies, wheelchairs, walkers, joggers... all have safe access to Dollymount.

(For clarity, I'm told car parking will be maintained on one side of the Causeway road).
