Build a Footpath & Cycle Lane on the Causeway Rd to Dollymount Strand

Build a Footpath & Cycle Lane on the Causeway Rd to Dollymount Strand
The Issue
We need a good quality footpath and segregated cycle lane (safe for children to use) on the Causeway road, allowing safe access to Dollymount strand.
The current footpaths are very narrow and in terrible repair, some section force people to walk singe file. The surface is broken and uneven, it's prone to flooding and difficult if not impossible for wheelchair users, older people, kids on bikes or anyone pushing a buggy to use.
We need a good quality footpath and a segregated cycle lane along the causeway road from the existing cycle path on James Larkin (Coast ) rd to Dollymount.
Over the last few weeks when the road was closed due to the Covid 19 restrictions the Causeway road was bussier than ever with walkers, joggers & cyclists. It was fantastic to see so many young children with space to learn to cycle safely and the freedom to cycle to the beach. With the road reopening on Monday May 18th, this will end and a fabulous amenity has been lost.
Bull Island is part of the Unesco Biosphere, it's internationally recognised for it's biological diversity and according to https://www.dublinbaybiosphere.ie (run by Dublin City Council) is a place "to promote a balanced relationship between people and nature". Current infrastructure however is at odds with this, it acts to discourage access by foot or bike, favouring cars.
A segregated cycle lane, safe for children to use, linking as it would to the S2S cycle lane on the coast road would make it safe and easy for thousands of families to cycle to the beach. A safe space for kids to learn to cycle and appreciate the biosphere.
We also need a good footpath, one that can accommodate a buggie or a wheelchair, making it pleasant and safe for locals to access the beach.
Please sign this petition to ask Dublin City Council to build both a footpath and segregated cycle lane on the Causeway road.
