Dual Citizenship for every Congolese in diaspora. Let’s get our government do it for us

Dual Citizenship for every Congolese in diaspora. Let’s get our government do it for us
The Issue
Double citizenship to Congolese for easy movement, investments and bring back national pride!
Many of us have left Congo to live in the USA, Canada, Europe and other places for greener pastures. However, to get more opportunities in these foreign lands, we are forced to get these foreign citizenships. There are many who have become American citizens without knowledge that they have automatically lost their privileges as Congolese citizens. We don’t get foreign citizenship because we hate Congo or think it is useless to us, but we do this so we can be exposed to opportunities in foreign land to support our families back in Congo.
How & Why will Congo never get out of our hearts?
- We are Congolese, even if we get foreign citizenship, Canada still calls us Congolese Canadians or congolese Americans and more...
- We contribute to the Congolese economy. Every year Congolese in diaspora send billions of dollars back home in combined small fractions to support their families. Some of our families' economies in Congo depend on us here in the diaspora.
- Being proud Congolese we come back home for marriage, tourism, family visits, and starting businesses. We pay taxes and power the economy.
- Every Congolese in diaspora supports major industries in Congo, for example the tourism & entertainment industry. Entertainers like Fally Ipupa have become so popular in the west due to Congolese fans based in the diaspora. With unlimited internet connections here, we spend millions of hours every month watching videos of our Congolese entertainers and media which in turn boasts their exposure on social media and video sharing platforms like Youtube. Selling the image of Congo indirectly.
- Our young people who were born here in the diaspora are partaking in human rights protests to raise awareness about the barbaric events happening in Congo. They do this because they still have the spirit of our Congolese ancestors in their blood. Congo is in our blood.
- The story of our current national leader, His Excellency Felix Tshisekedi is a tale we are all proud of as Congolese in the diaspora. Since he was 19, he lived as a foreigner in Belgium for more than 30 years, he lived just like some of us here, worked manual jobs here and there, and once his destiny called he went on to become our current president in Congo. That's testimony of how Conglese people in diaspora are. Well, everyone has their own destiny, and some of us are good in the business zone and some just want to take their kids back home to live with grandma for a year or two. Others want to start a family in Congo. Also, where will we go when unfriendly systems of these foreign lands come for us? Home is home! Let’s demand our government to grant us double citizenship for every congolese Citizen. You might feel safe now with your American citizenship but the spirit of times are unpredictable. Let's secure a space in the heart of our nation. Push for Congolese double citizenship.
Let’s come together, and ask for double citizenship from our beloved President so he can recognize us, as he was once like us while in Belgium. He knows our struggles, and understands that we still have the Congo spirit in us. We still speak Swahili, French, Lingala, and other congolese languages, and when one of us visits Congo, we ask them to bring us Sombe/pondu on their way back. We eat congolese, dress congolese, act congolese and we love it.
Is Double Citizenship Possible in Congo? Here is a testimony!
If Jean-Claude Van Damme the Belgian movie actor was granted congolese double/dual citizenship and a diplomatic passport despite the current constitution, then we the congolese children born and raised in Congo can get double/dual citizenship too. Let's push for change in the constitution. He was granted congolese double citizen to promote Congo, but who has promoted Congo better than the thousands of young Congolese in diaspora spreading awareness about Congo's beauty to their foreign friends and on social media?
Please dear President, concerned government agencies and leaders of Congo, understand that we in the diaspora have a big part to play in the progress of our nation. Help us play our part seamlessly.
Benefits of dual Citizenship to Congolese people and Congo
- Easy movement of Congolese people
- Investment in Congo becomes seamless
- Smart brains can finally come home
- A sign of progress to Congo
- Congo doesn’t lose its valuable people to other citizenry
- Wealth transfer from West to Congo
- Congolese can maintain and be proud of their African roots
- Congo follows suit with other rapidly developing countries in East Africa and Africa who are attracting and offering dual citizenship to their diaspora.
- Knowledge and information transfer. Our sons and daughters who’ve gained information from the west can transfer it to Congo seamlessly.
- Above all, we need somewhere to call home after all, a real home I mean! We are Congolese by blood and there shouldn’t be anything that can change that. Even in Canada they call you Congolese Canadian once you become a citizen of Canada. But it’s just some phrase, how are you Congolese when you already lost your privileges and Congolese citizenship.
Countries with double/dual Citizenship in East Africa
- Uganda - From 2008
- Kenya - Since 2010
- Rwanda - Since 2003
- South Sudan - Since 2011
- Somalia - 2012 provisional constitution.
- Tanzania - Grants Special immigration status to Its Diaspora. Now trying to Facilitate dual citizenship
It’s 2024! Where is mighty Congo on this list? It should be added to this list this very year. We can do this!
Why will Congo benefit a lot from Congolese (diaspora) having double/dual citizenship?
Investors are not only the Chinese state owned corporations. Individuals too are great investors. We Congolese in diaspora have so many foreign friends here, some people learn about Congo from us.
If there is an easy link between diaspora Congolese & Congo, more congolese will visit Congo, do business in Congo, get married in Congo, live in Congo and all this will be seen by our foreign friends here in diaspora. Some Congolese will come to live in Congo with their foreign marriage partners. These foreign friends will do the same, some of them will accompany us on long trips to congo or on our business ventures in Congo. Others will come get married and start families in Congo.
We are holding the Congolese flag here. We are selling Congo’s beauty and strength to the world. I see young congolese here in diaspora holding the congolese flag high in protests denouncing the atrocities happening in our country. Most of these are already American or European citizens. How much would they stand for Congo if they had a Congolese passport alongside their foreign passport? We would proudly stand for our country even more.
Suggestions to our leaders!
- Facilitate means for congolese to get back or retain their powerful congolese citizenship automatically.
- Children we’ve produced in foreign lands must also be recognized as Congolese citizens, including those born to refugee parents.
- Changes to the constitution should cover everyone e.g congolese before or after a constitutional change.
This is not only a petition that will affect Congolese in the diaspora. Even Congolese who are in Congo and other foreign lands will benefit. Some of our business men and women in Congo who would get a foreign nationality easily for more opportunities, they don’t apply for it because they fear losing their Congolese citizenship. Hence losing on opportunities in foreign land.
It’s an open world, let’s not keep our country closed. If government agencies are calling foreign investors to come to Congo, these foreign investors whom we live with here, they first look at us and what we talk about our country. The more proud we are about Congo, the clearer the image we will spread about our Country.
Otherwise the first way to deny someone of their national pride, is to strip away their nationality/citizenship.
Let’s build Congo and make every Congolese proud. Visit, do business and talk positively of your country Congo. The bones of our ancestors are buried there.
One day the bad spirit will be gone, the unstable spirit possessing our youth and moving them to commit negative things in our country will be gone.
We are not proud at all to live in a foreign land while having mother Congo left alone to bleed, and everyone of her child seeking life somewhere else. Authorities should facilitate the return of our people, because providing hard merciless labour as slaves in these foreign lands is not our birthright. Being born in Congo is the first sign that you are blessed and destined for greatness.
Our genes and souls are soon going to be set free and for the first time we will enjoy peace, freedom and abundance from our maker.
Glory to the Congolese people, Glory to the African children, Glory to the black man. The blood of our people that powered this corrupt foreign machine will soon be glorified. We are proud to be Congolese. Real Enemies of Congo will soon be revealed, they will perish in our own eyes. Let’s observe that technocracy is our real enemy and everyone behind it. We are here in the diaspora because selfish thieves stripped us the right to enjoy the abundance our nation was blessed. The time is now. Remember your country.
Our maker is with us. Stay away from the machine.
