We, the undersigned, are petitioning against the ability to sell items like Vapes, Cigarettes, and related smoking products in our state of Massachusetts. These products need to be banned because they only affect people negatively. They have this effect because they get people addicted, they impact the users and people around the users life, and they slowly kill the user by causing lung, mouth, and throat cancer.

In a survey that we conducted in May 2026 answered by 100 middle school students the results revealed that 81 of those students have witnessed someone vape, smoke, or use nicotine related products, also 37 of those students have either used them or a close friend has used those products. These results show that many students have seen someone vape and even some have had close friends or used those products themself.

 It is easy to get pressured by friends and peers to take a hit of a vape or a cigarette. This can cause someone to get addicted easily. Many things change about them if they're addicted, some effects are that they won’t feel normal without the item, they don't function correctly without it, and they can’t play sports and do things they once could.

 What we need are laws that stop the ability of being able to sell vapes, nicotine, and related products. Not only will this help the health of the adults who may later in life become addicted, but there will be a much lower chance of children being able to get these items.
