Drop PSYA01 Pass/Fail Grading System

The Issue

The current pass/fail grading system in Steve Joordens' 2024 PSYA01 course at UTSC does not adequately represent the hard work and skills development of students. Having a detailed grade instead of a simplified pass/fail supports a culture of academic excellence by allowing for distinction in students' performances. It also helps students to better understand where they stand academically, as well as what areas need improvement. The absence of a traditional grading system may also pose challenges for students when applying for further studies or job opportunities, as some institutions or employers may consider a pass/fail system as a lack of academic rigour. Therefore, we propose a change to a traditional grading system in the PSYA01 course. Add your voice to this cause - sign the petition today!
