The Issue

Form Description:

We, the residents of Riverwood Plantation in Port Orange, Florida, are calling on the City of Port Orange to urgently fix drainage issues in our neighborhood.

Problem Areas:

Del Mar Drive (entrance to the neighborhood) – chronic flooding, leaving yards, sidewalks, and road surfaces underwater for extended periods.

Palmas Drive – chronic flooding, leaving yards, sidewalks, and road surfaces underwater for extended periods.

Del Rio Drive near 6117 – chronic flooding, leaving yards, sidewalks, and road surfaces underwater for extended periods.

Why This Matters:

Standing water breeds mosquitoes and pests, creating a public health hazard.

Mold and algae on sidewalks create slip-and-fall risks, especially for children and elderly residents.

Flooded streets create driving hazards at the neighborhood entrance and within the community.

Prolonged water damages property, landscaping, and reduces neighborhood quality of life.

Our Request:

We ask the City of Port Orange Stormwater and Engineering Divisions to:

Conduct an on-site inspection and assessment of the listed drainage areas.

Identify causes (e.g., insufficient drains, clogged pipes, or grading issues).

Take corrective action to ensure water properly drains away after rainfall.
