With just two weeks until school starts, a decision has been made to eliminate one of the three first-grade teaching positions at Moody School. Eliminating a first-grade position increases class sizes 60%. This is significant! It will reduce the amount of individual time a teacher can spend with each of her students by a third.

Research consistently shows that class size does have a powerful effect on student outcomes and that short-term savings that are achieved through staff reduction are followed by more substantial social and educational costs in the future.
