With CT students facing extended school closures due to COVID-19, we ask that you exempt our students from SBAC testing this year.  Whatever time our students will have in the classroom for the remainder of this school year will be best spent learning with their teachers.  These tests take hours to administer.  They cause stress to students, amplified by the additional stress on all of us caused by COVID-19. Using our students' valuable, and now truncated, instructional time to take an exam that has limited practical impact is not a productive use of time.  Students will be less prepared for the exam than in previous years due to the impending curricular disruption. It would be unwise and unfair to students and the staff who have carefully crafted curricular units to support student learning and development. We respectfully request that you respect the value of our student's and educator's time in the classroom that is being limited by forces beyond our control.
