Remove Slave Owner's Name From WINTHROP's College of Business!!!

Remove Slave Owner's Name From WINTHROP's College of Business!!!
The Issue
Winthrop U should not honor Strom Thurmond who vehemently opposed civil rights and who comes from a family that formerly owned slaves.
His name should be removed from all University property. In light of all the racial injustice, we believe Winthrop will recognize having his name still connected to the University--sends a clear message to every current and prospective African-American student that racism is acceptable. And as we are seeing across the nation this is unacceptable.
FYI (Below is a snapshot of what Strom Thurmond really was about).
In opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957, he conducted the longest speaking filibuster ever by a lone senator, at 24 hours and 18 minutes in length.[5] In the 1960s, he opposed the civil rights legislation of 1964 and 1965 to end segregation and enforce the constitutional rights of African-American citizens, including basic suffrage. Despite being a pro-segregation Dixiecrat, he insisted he was not a racist, but was opposed to excessive federal authority, which he attributed to Communist agitators. [Per Wikipedia]
We want to REMOVE all things Strom Thurmond (street names, pictures, statues, names on buildings, etc.)
