DPW, Please do not allow vehicles to turn right from Leominster Road to Laurelwood Road

The Issue

Cars should not be allowed to turn right from Rt 12 S, Leominster Road, going up the hill to Laurelwood Road.  Today (Jan 19, 2023) I encountered a car that couldn't make the swing and had to back up into oncoming traffic at the bottom of Laurelwood Road, sticking their tail out into the road, and possibly causing an accident and forcing people to stop so they can get the right angle or forcing people to cross the yellow lines into oncoming traffic heading on Rt 12 N.

These people that turn up the road like that also encounter vehicles that are coming down Laurelwood Road, coming blindly down that windy road, and come upon these 'stuck' vehicles that should never be allowed to be there.

They should be forced to go to the CRAZY INTERSECTION near the light department and TURN AROUND so they can come back down Rt 12 N and be at a good angle to go up the Laurelwood Road hill that way.

The DPW and DOT and SPD need to collaborate on this.  Rt 12 is a state road, but that section may not be identified as a 'state highway'.  If it's not identified as that, then it's Sterling's responsibility, not the state, that can make this happen.

Our town has grown, but the roads are not changed to keep up with the times.

And for that matter, the same situation occurs at Jewett Road, near Hank's old gas station.  But there's less traffic there than Laurelwood.  The people going onto Laurelwood are going to the Umass Medical offices or the Sterling Animal Shelter.  They're not going there to go home.  If they live there, they know they can take Laurelwood Road from the rotary to get home.
