Indiana State Fair organizers are showing poor judgment by offering elephant rides at the 2014 Indiana State Fair Family Fun Park. In addition to the cruelty inherent to using elephants as entertainment, elephant rides confer a significant health and safety risk to the public.

The Indiana State Fair is a time to celebrate agriculture. It is not an opportunity to put our children at undue risk while contributing to the misery of an elephant. The safety record of elephant rides is unacceptable and the miserable lives of these intelligent creatures in the entertainment industry is well documented.

                      Let's join them and do what is good for Hoosiers and the elephants!
