We believe that trees are extremely valuable, now more than ever. Land owners should act as stewards of the land. Both for future generations and because trees are valuable habitat for wildlife, carbon sinks and sources of oxygen.

We know there are by-laws in place to protect trees from private land owners recklessly destroying trees without a permit. We also know, through direct experience, that Wellington County's "Green" initiatives are only for show and that these by-laws are not being enforced. Yes that is what was actually said by a member of Wellington's Office.

Land owners must be held accountable for the destruction of trees and forests when they act outside of the established protective Green by-laws.
