Absence of school parking for seniors creates huge issues for students. Doral’s 2022 Senior Class is approximately 400 students many of which must drive themselves to school. This year the school offered less than 70 parking spaces. In the past, the school has afforded parking to its seniors and juniors. While it used to have an open lot that has since been developed into Doral College (which includes a parking garage), the school did negotiate with the local church for additional parking in the past. We understand that it all boils down to a cost issue when negotiating additional parking. This is completely understandable and students and parents are willing to pay this cost in order to have a safe place to park. 

There is not even sufficient marked street parking, the alternative is to have students park along the canal on NW 25 Street or at adjacent businesses risking traffic citations or having the vehicle towed. Students should not have to worry about parking or their vehicle during school, their priority focus should be academics. 

This issue will not go away, as year after year students will continue to need parking, some as young as sophomores upon turning 16. I urge you to sign this petition in an effort to push our principal, Mr. Ferralls to provide a solution to the student parking.
