Don’t let Google, Apple or Cisco get a tax holiday

Don’t let Google, Apple or Cisco get a tax holiday
The Issue
Corporations should pay their fair share in taxes to the United States government. Right now a coalition led by Apple, Google, and Cisco Systems are pressing for a tax holiday on more than $1 trillion in offshore profits. They say it will help jump start the economy.
Yet after an analysis of a tax holiday in 2004, it shows that most corporations did not use the money to create jobs but instead used it to buy back stock. In fact these corporations saved 64 billion in taxes and still had the audacity to lay 600,000 people off.
No more free rides for corporations. If much needed social programs have to get their budgets slashed, then corporations need to pay their fair share.
