For most of us, our ability to walk is something that we take for granted. We may never think twice about this blessing, except when we come face to face with someone who is handicapped and has lost their ability to freely move around on their own.
In Iraq, a country of 28 million people, war and civil strife has caused disability among an astonishing three million citizens.
In Gaza and the West Bank, violence has left nearly tens of thousands Palestinians disabled. And in the Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, there are thousands of people who were born disabled or developed disabilities from treatable diseases.
In all of these countries, most families cannot afford to purchase equipment and supplies on their own that would help ease the difficulties endured by their disabled relatives.
In response to this unfortunate situation, LIFE for Relief and Development has launched a new campaign to provide wheelchairs and walkers to handicapped children and adults in Iraq, Jordan, and the Palestinian Territories.
