Mr. President,

Sarah Sanders today (07/19/2018) tweeted that your national security adviser, John Bolton, has been instructed by you to extend an invitation to the White House to Russian President Vladimir Putin. We, the American people, have barely caught our collective breath from the summit in Helsinki and there has yet to be any transparency regarding the two-hour private meeting that you had there with Mr. Putin.  The U.S. intelligence community has advised you and the American people that Russian meddling in our election process, including sowing discord and fake news, is ongoing.  With that in mind and with the midterm elections almost upon us, for you to follow through with such a meeting AT THE WHITE HOUSE is totally inappropriate, disingenuous, completely contrary to all that America stands for, and sends the wrong message to the world.  We, the undersigned, strongly urge you to rescind this invitation immediately or, at the very least, to postpone this proposed Putin visit until AFTER election day this fall.  Mr. President, we are counting on you as our president to do the right thing.
