TAKING TERENCE ANDRUS OFF DEATH ROW

TAKING TERENCE ANDRUS OFF DEATH ROW
The Issue
Hello. My name is Kyrah Baker I am 16 years old and I made this petition for Terence Andrus. Terence Andrus is a 2008 death row inmate for the death of two individuals from a shooting. Keep in mind he suffers from extreme childhood neglect, abuse, and suffers from a learning disability. Terence confessed to the crime in court in a very cooperative manner. He was appointed to a very negligent lawyer who was widely known for how terrible he handles his cases. Before Terence’s trial he ended up being dropped from the case due to the lack of work he was contributing to the case. This is not okay at all.
Despite Terence’s wrongdoings, the death penalty should not be encouraged for his cases. It is proven that the death penalty solves nothing. It does not reduce crime. It in fact can increase crime rates and lead to unwanted public uproars. Also the execution of Terence or anyone for that matter does not bring back the victim. Circling back to Terence and his past it is common that the system looks past such issues. They lack to keep in mind the mental impact such trauma can have on a person. The system is highly flawed.
This petition is not an excuse for the poor actions Terence took that day. This petition is to spread awareness of the flawed system we have in the United States. I as well as many other people are simply asking that instead of the death penalty Terence faces life in prison without the chance of parole. It needs to be understood that putting someone to death is not the answer or way out. Your signature could really help make a difference. Please and thank you.
