IT IS TIME TO OPEN TEXAS NURSING HOMES. Many elderly are in great need to see, hold, hug and kiss their loved ones. They need to see their families, including their great grandchildren. We as health care providers go home everyday and we see our loved ones! We take a chance of carrying COVID back into facilities everyday. I have heard my whole nursing career that I work in their home and it has been since March that THEY the residents haven’t been able to hug and kiss their families. I have residents telling me everyday that they would risk getting COVID just to see their families. We all know that shutting down the nursing homes DOES not prevent COVID. People are dying everyday and will continue to die everyday with or without COVID. These people have missed holidays, births and funerals because we keep them shut in and locked down like criminals. We as a nursing facility have had outside visits just to be shut back down because someone in dietary had COVID. How much more can these little people take? How many more months do they have to wait to hug their families? How many more Holidays do they have to miss? It’s time to OPEN the DOORS. You’re either going to get it or you won’t but quit running
