Each year, students across the United States are forced to read plays written by William Shakespeare in their English classes. The language these plays are written in clearly is not English and is very difficult and stressful to read. In order to save time and stress caused by these plays, I think it is in the best interest of the United States, it’s students, and it’s future to completely ban any of these plays from being read. Why learn a version of English that isn’t even spoken anymore? The benefits of succeeding in banning any Shakespeare from being read would include, but are not limited to: 

• Saving American students the stress of trying to read, decode, and write about Shakespeares plays
• Give American students more time to think about and develop ideas that could be much more beneficial than learning 16th century English
• Allow for more books to be read by American students that will actually improve their modern English
• Save paper and trees from being used to print these pointless and unenjoyable plays
• Focus American students attention to modern and future problems rather than fictional problems from almost 400 years ago
