Onfi's long awaited approval came from the FDA Jan 2012. This drug is used in the treatment of patients with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a debilitating form of epilepsy. For these patients the plan of care is difficult and positive outcomes are slim. The quality of life they experience is at times poor and degenerative. I have witnessed the effectiveness of Onfi through my 16 year old son. This drug has improved his overall condition, reducing the number of seizures and severity and seeing him more alert, cognitive and thinking.He is enjoying life again!!! It's amazing! This drug is giving my son his life back and now pharmacies in PA are not permitted to dispense Onfi because of the decision by the State of PA Bureau of Pharmacy to stop allowing the drug in PA. Matt and others like him will have to stop "cold turkey" undoubtedly leading to an uncontrolled medical state, hospitalization or even possibly death. Change this decision and have Onfi available and prescribed like any other medication. Please don't take away this ray of hope for anyone affected by this syndrome.
