Eversource and CT are banding together to try bracing the public into accepting and paying for a rate hike of up to 50%/month in 2023. We’re all still reeling from the effects of COVID, along with inflation in general and a wage stagnation. Now a privately owned utility company is going to raise their rates by 50% and we’re expected to just go along with it? This is a petition for CT legislation to finally put an end to the privatization of this essential utility and pull it into the public domain or else the public will refuse to pay their January 2023 bills. There will already be tens of thousands of households who can’t pay, but those of us who can pay will stand in solidarity with them. If we win, CT legislation will prevent this increase from happening. If we lose, Eversource loses.
