Ontario's greenbelt is protected by law. Doug Ford wants to change that. He wants a mega highway and a massive airport. We can't let this happen! This highway is only being thought of because the government made the mistake to sell the 407. Entrusting it to a company for 100 years. This highway will pave over watersheds, limiting our fresh water and agricultural land. A loss of fresh, healthy food. Not to mention, many animals will be losing their homes/habitats and we will add to extinction rates. The airport will be the size of Pearson airport. It will be a waste of space because Pearson is plenty big and we do not need another one on the other side of Toronto. Both of these different things will contribute to greenhouse gases and at the same time, lower our air quality. All the government wants is money, now. They aren't thinking about what is to come and the mistakes they are making. If we win, our greenbelt is safe. If we lose, we've lost food, water and destroyed a protected natural space. This is a stand to protect our environment and with it our future.
