Don’t Let SNAP Funds Stop This Week – Don’t Let 40 Million Americans Go Hungry

The Issue

Millions of Americans are facing an unimaginable crisis—starting this week, over 40 million people will lose access to SNAP food assistance unless immediate action is taken.

SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is a lifeline. It helps families put food on the table when money runs out. It supports children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income workers who are doing everything they can to get by. Now, because of the federal government shutdown, those benefits are about to be cut off.

Food shouldn’t be a bargaining chip. Yet partisan gridlock in Washington has left millions at risk of hunger. States are scrambling to find emergency funds or connect people to overwhelmed food pantries. But many governors have already said they can’t cover the shortfall. And the U.S. Department of Agriculture has stated it will stop paying for food aid unless Congress acts or the administration releases emergency reserves.

We cannot let this happen.

We urge President Donald Trump and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to immediately release available contingency funds to keep SNAP benefits flowing.

These reserves were created for moments like this—when inaction would lead to real harm. We also call on Congress to do everything in its power to restore full funding for SNAP without delay.

No one should go hungry because politicians can’t agree. This is not about partisanship—it’s about compassion, responsibility, and protecting the basic dignity of every person in this country.

If we raise our voices now, we can make it clear: Americans are watching—and we won’t accept food being taken off the table.

Sign this petition to demand that food aid continues uninterrupted this week. 40 million lives depend on it.
