Don’t Let Georgia Children Go Hungry—Protect Food Banks Now
The Issue
In Hancock County, Georgia—home to the highest rate of child food insecurity in the U.S.—food banks are a lifeline.
But now that lifeline is under threat.
Recent federal cuts to SNAP benefits and USDA food programs mean less help for families, seniors, and children across rural Georgia. Food banks like Golden Harvest are bracing for a surge in demand they may not be able to meet.
One in every four children in Golden Harvest’s service area is already food insecure. In Hancock County, it’s one in two.
We’re calling on Georgia lawmakers and federal representatives to reverse recent SNAP funding cuts.
Restore USDA support for food banks and school-based food programs.
Without this support, local food banks will be overwhelmed—and more children will go to bed hungry.
No child should suffer because of budget politics.
